Rama Navami 2020 - Ram Navami is a festival to celebrate the birth of Lord Rama in Ayodhya. He was the son of King Dasharatha who waited for long for his own child who could be a suitable heir to his dynasty. But have we ever thought why we call him “Lord Rama” despite being a son of a king? Lord Rama was also known as “Maryada Purushottam Ram” and he was the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, but he is worshiped as a god not because he was the incarnation of Vishnu rather because of his simplicity, faith fullness, obedience and most importantly because of his “Dharma Sthapna”.

History Of Ram Navami

Several decades back when Dashratha was the king of Ayodhya, a small town in Uttar Pradesh at present. He was having everything but not a son, so he performed “Puthra Kamesti Yagna” advised by the sage rishi Vashistha. This Yagna was so grand that the whole city divulged itself for the sake of their king. Lord Rama was born on the day of Ram Navmi from Devi Kaushalya who was the first wife of King Dasharatha. Without knowing the fact that Lord Rama was an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he grew up with all comforts. Gods and goddesses come to the earth for some reason and Lord Rama was the one. He came to kill Ravana who was the demon king of Lanka. He was a scholar and great disciple of Lord Shiva but due to his egoism, proud and anger, he died in the hands of Rama. From that day itself, people celebrate this day as the day of Rama’s birth “RAMANAVAMI”.
